I make systems work.

Storage, virtualization, systems, and applied AI.

Thirty years from the helpdesk and the rack to presales and private AI. I design, explain, and ship the thing a customer can actually operate on Monday morning.

  • 30 years Storage, virt, Windows, Linux, and the AI that now sits on them
  • 250% Pure Storage quota, Global Rookie of the Year. President's Club
  • 50+ POCs 90%+ conversion. First US SE at Reduxio. Beat the big arrays in the lab
  • 100% Partner deploys from bare metal. Hurricane DR that stayed up

Now Solutions Architect at BlueAlly. VMware to Nutanix modernization and practical AI applications. Before that: storage and compute practice lead, Pure, Dell, EMC, and the person who kept the estate up.

April 2026 to Present

BlueAlly Technology Solutions · Atlanta, GA

Current seat is customer architecture: turn unclear technical goals into designs, plans, and explanations a team can act on. The work splits across two live motions. Practical AI application design, and VMware to Nutanix modernization.

  • Shape GenAI and RAG conversations around process, data sources, security, workflow, and the first build a customer can support after the demo.
  • Guide placement for AI and general workloads across private, public, and hybrid patterns. Sensitivity, latency, and the operating model win the argument, not the slide.
  • Help customers evaluate a move from VMware to Nutanix: renewal pressure, sizing, POC scope, migration sequence, operational risk.
  • Built and keep NutaNIX, a public field guide so VMware minded engineers can learn Nutanix, handle objections, and prepare for certification.
  • Run Nutanix Daily as a field note stream: news turned into talking points, caveats, and next actions.

Storage and Compute Practice Manager · AI Pod Architect

March 2025 to April 2026

Business Technology Architects (BTA) · Alpharetta, GA

Ran the storage and compute practice while standing up a production AI inference platform for Cisco partners. Hardware was real: Cisco UCS X-Series, NVIDIA GPU clusters, Pure Storage. The product was a git repo partners could clone and run.

  • Built an air gapped LLM platform for regulated sectors: healthcare, finance, government. Partners went from bare metal to inference in under an hour with a 100% deploy success rate.
  • Multi model runtime with hot swap across Llama, Mistral, and custom fine tunes, plus an OpenAI compatible API for LangChain and LlamaIndex.
  • ChatGPT like interface with streaming responses and live GPU metrics so partners could see utilization, not just a demo prompt.
  • Wrote labs and training so Cisco partners could repeat the build without tribal knowledge.

Pure Storage · Atlanta, GA

Fortune 100 storage in the Southeast. Architecture, disaster recovery, and the kind of customer work that still has to be up when the weather is not.

  • Delivered 250% of quota in 2021. Named Pure Storage Global Rookie of the Year.
  • Ran hurricane disaster recovery for ten clients and held 100% business uptime.
  • Opened new logos while keeping Fortune 50 accounts that do not forgive a sloppy design.

Converged Systems Presales vArchitect

November 2019 to October 2020

Dell Technologies · Atlanta, GA

Technical presales for software defined storage, converged and hyperconverged systems, and cloud. Sat with customers through data center consolidations and made the architecture make sense to the people who had to run it.

  • Worked VxRail, PowerFlex, VxBlock, Azure, virtualization, and containers on commercial and enterprise accounts.
  • Supported major data center consolidation programs and helped customers walk their engineering process, not just pick a SKU.
  • Configured and documented hardware, software, and service designs. Qualified the technical side of the deal: requirements, competition, decision path, funding.
  • Mentored sales teams and technical buyers through long presales campaigns.

Presales and Professional Services

January 2019 to August 2019

Corus360 · Atlanta, GA

Recruited in on reputation to run presales and post sales delivery for a Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 client base. The seat covered the datacenter, the helpdesk, and a bench of about 25 billable engineers.

  • Directed employees, consultants, project managers, and technical writers so delivery projects actually closed clean.
  • Worked with sales and operations to package services so sister companies could sell large services deals without a fire drill.

Global Presales Director

February 2015 to January 2019

Reduxio · Atlanta, GA

First American employee and first systems engineer. Fifth person in the United States. Enterprise iSCSI storage, from a standing start. Built the US market and the SE org across the US, EMEA, and Israel.

  • Exceeded quota by more than 150% each year. Doubled the quarterly revenue of any other territory.
  • Designed and installed more than 50 proof of concept projects at a 90%+ conversion rate. Regularly beat established storage vendors in the lab.
  • Grew the SE org to 13 plus teams, wrote the onboarding, the hands on labs, the whiteboard, and the product demo.
  • Trained partner and reseller technical resources so the Southeast was not a one man show.

Global Presales Operations · vSpecialists Productivity Manager

January 2010 to January 2015

EMC Corporation · Atlanta, GA

Two seats, one house. First, grew the global vSpecialists practice around EMC and VMware work. Then ran operations for 5,500 presales engineers worldwide.

  • Grew vSpecialists from 30 to more than 150 people without dropping the technical bar.
  • Briefed EMC’s largest customers and kept the VMware collaboration real in the field, not just on a slide.
  • Stood up onboarding that equipped 1,000 new presales engineers.
  • Pioneered the first virtual vSE Conference, two way video, 2.5 million impressions. Built the Presales Advisory Council so the field had a voice back into the mothership.

Syscom Technologies

Practice Manager for the Storage Group. Sold and designed Riverbed, EqualLogic / Dell, and Data Domain. Built the solutions, then helped the sales team win them up and down the east coast.

  • Added 200 plus storage customers during the tenure.
  • Designed and built the technology offerings, not just the slideware.
  • Before Syscom: solutions consulting at MTI, presales leadership at GT Software and Vitria, including a BellSouth integration turnaround. One of five founders at Windward / Verso, more than $8M in services and product revenue.

Hands on IT

1993 to 1998

Kilpatrick Stockton LLP · Per Se / Medaphis · Auburn University

This is the part of the story most AI resumes bury. I have been the person who keeps the estate up.

  • Kilpatrick Stockton: technical lead for 10 Microsoft consultants. 30 Windows NT servers across eight US cities, 2,000 users. Exchange, SQL, IIS, SMS, file and print. The last call on problems nobody else could close.
  • Migrated 450 Banyan Streettalk users to Microsoft Mail, 500 Windows for Workgroups users to Win95, and 1,000 mail users onto Exchange 5.0. Pulled Banyan Vines off the network.
  • Medaphis: acting network administrator for a 500 user Novell / NT estate. Deployed Microsoft Mail to 3,000 users in 30 cities. Stood up Citrix thin client remote access. Built an Access payroll system for 500 employees and helped a PeopleSoft integration.
  • Auburn: lab technician supporting eight campus labs, 200 plus Windows and Macintosh machines, for students and professors.

How I work now

Force multiplier, not a side quest

A persistent partner, not a chat window

Since January 2026 I have run a personal AI infrastructure I built and named Larry. Versioned memory, written operating laws, identity that survives a laptop swap. It is how I produce architecture, field guides, calculators, and customer ready explanations without starting from zero every morning.

The method is public at how.nixfred.com. I will use this on your problem set, whether the problem is a storage refresh, a hypervisor move, or a private AI application that has to live inside the firewall.
